The storyline remains a mystery for the time being.

First-look images from Steven Moffatâs thriller Inside Man have been revealed, giving us our first look at David Tennant, Stanley Tucci and other big name cast members in the mysterious project.
Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps for the four-part series, which is scheduled to launch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer next year, with only a brief (and very cryptic) synopsis released thus far.
It teases that the show will follow a prisoner on death row in the United States (played by Tucci), a vicar in a quiet English town (Tennant) and a maths teacher trapped in a cellar, whose lives intersect in a âmost unexpected wayâ. Your guess is as good as ours.
Despite the lack of details, Inside Man is shaping up to be one of the BBCâs most-anticipated upcoming dramas, with Moffat and executive producer Sue Vertue describing the all-star cast as the âbest ensemble weâve ever had the chance to work withâ.
Ben Irving, Commissioning Editor for BBC Drama, added: âSteven Moffat has created another brilliantly original and darkly playful series in Inside Man and itâs no surprise that it has attracted such an extraordinary cast. This will be a âmust-watchâ when it lands on BBC One and iPlayer next year.â
The first-look images include a sneak peek at Tennant in his role as small-town vicar Harry Watling after a service (above), as well as an advance look at Tucciâs death row inmate Jefferson Grieff as he is led down a gloomy prison corridor.
Itâs A Sin breakout star Lydia West will also star in BBC Oneâs Inside Man as Beth Davenport, with the image below revealing she is connected to Tucciâs prisoner, but thereâs no word yet on whether sheâs his lawyer, a reporter, a relative or someone else entirely.

Dolly Wells reunites with Moffat following their collaboration on 2020âs three-part Dracula series, seen grinning in this initial reveal of her character, who goes by the name Janice Fife.
The final image from Inside Man introduces Hanna star Lyndsey Marshal as another key character in the show, Mary Watling, who will presumably be some relation to Tennantâs vicar â most likely his wife or sister.
Accompanying these images was an announcement detailing Inside Manâs supporting cast, which includes Atkins Estimond (Hightown), Mark Quarterly (Cursed), Tilly Vosburgh (Maigret), Louis Oliver (Midnight Mass), Kate Dickie (The Witch) and Dylan Baker (Hunters).
Inside Man is coming next year to BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Â

EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has boarded its latest BBC drama, taking the international rights to Steven Moffatâs limited series Inside Man, which has assembled a stellar above-the-line cast ahead of production taking place later this year.
Deadline can reveal that Oscar-nominated Supernova and Spotlight star Stanley Tucci has been set in the title role of the Inside Man, while he will be joined by Doctor Who and Des actor David Tennant, and The Pursuit of Love and Dracula star Dolly Wells. Rounding out the headline cast is Lydia West, who featured in the acclaimed Channel 4/HBO Max series Itâs A Sin.
Doctor Who and Sherlock writer Steven Moffat is keeping plot details firmly under wraps, so much so that only he himself knows how the story will conclude. That means Netflix and the BBC are in the dark about how Inside Man will end.
What we do know is the four-part Hartswood Films series centers on a prisoner on death row in the U.S., a vicar in a quiet English town, and a maths teacher trapped in a cellar, as they cross paths in the most unexpected way.
Sherlock director Paul McGuigan will helm the series, with Alex Mercer producing. Executive producers are Sue Vertue for Hartswood Films and Ben Irving for the BBC. Chris Sussman oversees for Netflix. Inside Man was first commissioned in 2019 by BBC drama director Piers Wenger and Charlotte Moore, BBC chief content officer.
Husband and wife Moffat and Vertue said they canât wait to âcrawl out of our lockdown bunkerâ to get to work on the series, which Sussman described as âfiendishly clever.â Wenger added that the combination of the script and cast will create âtelevision magic.â
BBC Studios brokered the deal with Netflix, which will stream the show outside of the UK and Ireland. Itâs another example of the BBC and Netflix partnering on a major drama, with other recent examples including The Serpent and the upcoming supernatural horror series Red Rose.
Inside Man has echoes of Moffat and Mark Gatissâ 2020 series Dracula, which was also a co-production between the BBC and Netflix. The three-part series also starred Wells and West in the retelling of Bram Stokerâs legendary story of a blood-sucking count from Transylvania.
Tucci is repped by CAA, Curtis Brown and Anonymous Content, while Tennant is repped by Independent Talent and UTA. Wellsâ representatives are Independent Talent, UTA, and Anonymous Content, and West is rep
